Pin finds

As any good crafty social media person, I’m on Pinterest. (Are you?) Sometimes, I can get sucked in just poking around so I try to limit my time there unless I have nothing else to do (Riiight)

But! Here are some good ones I found recently:

30 – Blogging daily #NaBLoPoMo

This post is part of BlogHer’s writing prompts for NaBloPloMo I won’t even pretend I’ll be sure to blog every day, but I’ll try even if it’s just something short or a picture. (What is NaBloPoMo? wiseGEEK has the answer)

I didn’t.  I knew I wouldn’t be able to even though I had every intention of trying. I do have some posts as drafts that I started to write, but got distracted or something came up and they’ll get published when I have some time to really think about them.

It’s been a crazy month with some things I’ve been working on work wise and personally. I’ll revisit this “Post every day” idea when I find a month that looks less crazy…which with my life might be never.

I hope you’ve enjoyed what musings I was able to put out there and that you’ll be back again soon. I promise I won’t leave this space dormant for so long again.

In the mean time some of the things I’ve been working on are posted over at Court is Crafty.

Working, Baking, and Crafting OH MY! #NaBLoPoMo

I don’t like today’s writing prompt so instead I’ll tell you a little bit about what I’ve been up to lately…

In the last few days I’ve made the following:

I’ve also been working both jobs and fighting a cold.

What have you been up to?

13 – Brave? #NaBloPoMo

There’s a very fine line between brave and stupid if you’ve asked me. There have been times that I’ve crossed from brave to stupid unwittenly but I try to toe the line and not do stupid things.

I’ve gone cliff diving, skied ridiculously difficult trails, left relationships people thought I shouldn’t, walked away from a job to another with a significantly lower salary, took a chance on a guy from Chicago, and any number of things that many would say took some serious guts to do. The thing in my mind that took the most bravery was to go back to college.

While many things were hard, including that phone call to tell my parents I was not going back to school the fall of 2000, going back to school a little more than a year later was much more difficult. I would be living with people I didn’t know, taking random classes because I didn’t know what the heck I wanted to do upon my return, and leaving the safety of a company that treated me decently well. I was walking back into a world that in my mind, I did not belong in, but that I knew I needed to take a deep breath and make it my own.

I moved in and started classes with shaky steps that were taken with the nagging thought in the back of my mind, “Will I be good enough for this?” and “Is my future worth this risk?”

It took a few months of classes, but I soon found the answer to both questions was, “Yes.”

12 – Location, location, location (to blog that is) #NaBloPoMo

Do you blog in the chairs? Do you blog from upstairs? Would you blog in a house? Would you blog without a mouse? Would you, could you on a boat? Would you, could you from across a moat?

I’m going to make things short and sweet today. I blog (basically) any time, any where. If I don’t have access to my laptop, tablet, or phone to type it out right then, I’ll sketch out a post on just about anything. If an idea strikes me, I have to get it out before it goes *poof* like a bubble popping on a child’s finger.

I smiled this week because of…

It’s the little things that can make (or break) your week. I think it’s important to remember the good things, especially when it’s sometimes easier to remember the bad. Here’s a few things that made me smile…

  • the tone of cooperation Wednesday morning
  • Emails from clients thanking me
  • Design and crafting – can’t wait to share photos!
  • Sweet potato fries
  • Hugs from kiddos
  • Spirited grandmother issuing a challenge
  • Amazing thought out wedding gifts
  • Sorting out holiday gift lists
  • A gracious smile making questionable requests more deliverable
  • Perfectly ripe pears

What made you smile this week?
